ABOUT ME

I began singing at age five, and in elementary school I began to develop my musical abilities through studying classical piano at the American Conservatory of Music for five years, songwriting, and singing in the internationally acclaimed Chicago Children’s Choir. I continued to develop my musical abilities in high school by joining the Kenwood Academy Choir, where I won first place in a massive Kenwood talent show coordinated by known director/mentor Lena Mclin (to Chaka Khan, R.Kelly and others) beating out now multi-platinum recording artist R.Kelly. I subsequently attended Northwestern University and joined the Northwestern Community Ensemble, where I was lead vocalist for many concert songs while on tour.
In 1985, I co-wrote & recorded my first Billboard Top Music Charts - Hot 100 HOT DANCE CLUB PLAY hit: "Like This", which peaked at #15 on the chart and is a classic house music anthem currently being played in clubs and in radio rotation worldwide. This was the beginning of my career in the music business as Chicago classic house music artist, K.Joy. During that time I opened for acts such as Roy Ayers and toured all over the U.S. and overseas.
Later in my career, I became lead singer for the band Complete Desire, which opened for the legendary 60’s group The Mighty Tams while touring throughout the U.S. Afterwards, I began to explore my roots in hip-hop as a rapper under the artist name Saran.  On “The HolyWar Records Compilation CD” I provided background vocals for other artists and was also the business manager for the independent label. My single, “Betta Way”, which I wrote, arranged, rapped, and sang, became very popular and was in regular weekly rotation on the Atlanta FM 106.3 "Holy Hip Hop” radio show as a result.
I am an artist, lyricist, singer, and arranger, whose vocal range is evidenced by my experience as lead vocalist for various genres, such as dance, jazz, gospel, classical, blues, and R&B. This versatility is the reason I returned to songwriting and singing dance music that is currently being sold all over the world. I have also recently polished my skills as a voiceover actress and creative writer as it relates to the entertainment industry.
I now have a Bachelor of Science in Audio Production. Additionally, I worked as an intern, where I obtained invaluable experience in the art of Foley, ADR, voiceover, mixing, and sound design. I intend to utilize my knowledge combined with years of experience, to provide for clients: quality sound design/audio post-production for animation, video games, film, TV, and radio; as well as songwriting and vocal arrangement.
My ultimate goal for this blog is that it will serve as an avenue for: discussion; inspiration of intellectual thought; dissemination of information; building solid relationships; and professional networking; all in relation to the audio services we intend to offer at Art Of Audio Productions. To all of my fellow sound designers, audio engineers, and readers who are simply curious about post-production audio or songwriting and vocal arrangement, I hope that you are always able to leave my blog enriched in some manner.  Whether it is simply a discussion that helps you come up with your next great idea, or a link to a new website that provides you with fresh knowledge about an aspect of audio, it is my sincere wish that this blog will serve as a valuable resource for its readers.

Each blog post will contain links to various Internet sites, so feel free to explore them. Additionally, I look forward to your opinions, comments, and feedback.

Welcome to my forum where I firmly believe that quality audio is an art!
